A Soft Answer #451

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. 2  The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. (Proverbs 15:1-2)

The words we speak reveal our heart. They can do much damage or much good. Please note that the “soft answer”  is strong to silence wrath when it “uses knowledge rightly”. When angry emotions rule the heart our words become harsh and foolish. Be careful to keep anger out of your heart. Otherwise, harsh and hurtful words will likely come out of your mouth and cause much damage to yourself and others. When someone is angry toward you, make up your mind to answer their wrath with soft words that are chosen by a knowledge of what is right (see James 1:19-20).
