In God We Trust #478

9  Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, 10  who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, 11  you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many. (2 Corinthians 1:9–11)

Paul’s life had been threatened while he was on a preaching trip (see Acts 19:21-41). Although he was prepared to die for the Lord, the Lord delivered him. Paul’s trust in God was unflappable, and his example helps us remain strong when our faith is put to the test. Paul refused to rely on himself; He would trust in God who has power over death. Remember, whatever people say or do to you because of your faith in Jesus, they cannot kill your soul (Matt. 10:28). So, be faithful to Christ and receive eternal life when God raises you from the dead. Whatever your trial of faith, do not be discouraged. God delivers all who trust in Him.
